There is so much I can say about my favourite cousin Jason. He has always made time for us and has been there for every moment. He included us, spent time with us playing the Nintendo, building cubby houses, completing puzzles, when we got bored at Gran & Pas he would be helping us on the monkey bars, taking us crabbing down the river or just helping us feed the seagulls. Jase was a big kid a heart with a special talent of almost every time winning us a soft toy from the arcade claw machines.
If we wanted to do something with Jase he would do it and often Sarah was right there too entertaining us. Mind you, he did get super creative when he wanted a break from us to have a coffee and chats with the adults. He would bribe us with money here’s $2 he would say and we would go around the milk bar to get lollies and he would add make sure you bring me back something or it was I’ll give you $5 bucks to clean my car which we loved and just thought that’s was the best. We could never reach the roof of his car so he would have to come out and do it. He would always say what a great job we did and we would feel so good about ourselves but reality was Jason would always have to wash his car again.
He also made us always feel so special and that we were the “cool kids” as he picked us up from primary school with the music pumping so everyone would look and we just felt like rockstars.
Sunday mornings running upstairs to wake Jase, Mick and Cassie up at like 9-10am and wondering why none of them were never that eager to get up. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized that Sunday mornings equals hangovers and we all know that Jase was the life of the party. He loved his music, having a dance and fun was always had whenever he was around.
Jase wanted to buy me my first legal drink for my 18th birthday. At the cove for lunch on the day of my party he brought a shot of “green fairy”. This led and encouraged others to buy me more shots. I said to him I wasn’t going to be able to handle this so early. Jase said to me, “Don’t worry you are a Cruise you will be fine. Just go home after this have a vomit and a nap and you will be good to go”. This is where I learnt and had my first tactile vomit and it worked like a charm.
Jase called it as he saw it, from giving his tips on what horses to back or what multis to put on to telling me when I thought I was “in love” as a teenager. “Amanda that guy is a dickhead and you can do so much better”. Not something I wanted to hear at the time but Jase was protective he knew my value and worth before I did and in the end he was absolutely right. He fought so hard to be here every step of the way, courageous, determined and finding the strength to be here and share in my wedding which is something we will cherish forever.
I could go on forever with so many moments of love, kindness and fun that Jase gave us every time we saw him. He was our glue, our person to lean or cry on and our guidance.
Jase was always about everyone else, he was loving, selfless and because of that we each got to have our own special bond with him. In the darkness and sadness we find ourselves in now that he is gone we need to look for the light and joy that Jase gave us, hold it tight and never let it go.
Love you forever 💔

Hard to believe you’re gone Jase…you were always up for a laugh, a boogie (Return of the Mac 😉), a drink and a chat- just a genuinely lovely person. We’ll greatly miss your cheeky smile and equally cheeky shenanigans.
Fly high Jase🙏 All our Love, Jody, Erol & Families xx

Jason was the best son-in-law we could wish for, and not just because he barracked for The Mighty Saints. He made our beautiful daughter very happy and gave us 3 beautiful grandchildren. We loved those big bear hugs and adored that cheeky smile. We are so proud of Jason, he fought so hard for 21/2 years for his beautiful family. We will miss him every day especially in Merimbula and Tallangatta
his favourite holiday destinations. We will do our best to love and support Sarah Gemma Jeremy and Indy. And together we will always remember their wonderful Dad.
