Our beloved Damien died at home of a major heart attack
on the evening of Thursday 18th of December 2025.
He was the best of us, the most generous of men, kind to all.
He will be sorely missed by his family, community and colleagues.
Our family would like to thank everyone for being part of Damien’s life.

There will be a Funeral of Thanksgiving Service as we Celebrate his Life
At The Stratus & Cumulus Reflection Space, Bunurong Memorial Park,
790 Frankston Dandenong Road, Dandenong South
on Tuesday 6th January, 2026, commencing at 10am.
Following the Service Damien will be laid to rest within the Cemetery Grounds. There will be a short walk to the graveside, please wear comfortable shoes.
For those who prefer you can wait near the café area.
Following the service, we look forward to catching up with you in the Bunurong Function Rooms over light refreshments.

Damien was a huge part of our family and lived in the same street for many years. He was associated with my three sons but had a close relationship with Chris who was in the same form at school. They worked together in Alice Springs,Perth and Melbourne. They had great times together and when he d come to echuca he would enjoy dinner with us.We will miss his infectious laugh and personable nature. Our family moved opposite the Millers in December 2019 on a 41° day. Our very first knock on the door was Damo and Isobel, Lachlan and Angus, to welcome us to our new home, with Zooper Doopers in hand. From that moment forward, we knew we had very special neighbours in the Miller family and in Damo. We will miss him terribly, especially listening to our kids jumping on the trampoline and yelling out “HI DAMO!” followed by Damo yelling out “HELLO!” back, with his happy chuckle to follow.

Damien was the calibre of man I aspire to be. I worked with him for years at Golder and he supported more than my career. In my mind the Burnley and Domain Tunnels are the Dameo Tunnels and I will never forget him. Jane you know how much he ment to me outside of work and I will be for ever greatful for his support.

To my beautiful husband, soulmate and friend, reading this makes it all too real. My quiet but strong Type 1 diabetes warrior, whatever it sent your way you managed but a massive heart attack took you far too soon. I wish for a cure.
You were the kindest of people, always on alert for those who needed help. You loved being around others and meeting people whether it was footy, work or just on a bus. I love that you did garden things with me even though you don’t love gardening. You even convinced me to like footy. We loved playing canasta and being with family. Our three beautiful children are a testament to you, they miss you beyond comprehension. I was blessed the day I met you, we had a good life, we love you always, Jane Isobel, Angus and Lachlan ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I feel privileged having been able to share a good portion of my career working along side you and sharing life stories, tips on managing twins, your endless love for your beautiful family and how Carlton were doing in the footy.

Damien, what can we say. The tributes describe what a great person you were. You and Jane took me and Daniel under your wing, when we moved to Melbourne. We will never forget your kindness and friendship.
You shared your love of footy for your loved Carlton and brought us to our first footy game. You told us what red wine not to buy and spoilt us with your good tips and advice. You introduced us to Euchea and your beautiful family. We feel so privileged to have had that time with you and Jane, Jim, Maria, Isobel and family.
We were part of your important moments when you became a father and became a father again to your gorgeous twins Lachlan and Angus.

Damo, you truly are one of a kind. The infectious enthusiasm, engagement, and team spirit you brought to the DSM project carried all of us through every challenge. You wore your love for your family on your sleeve, and you extended that same kindness and sensitivity to everyone who set foot on site.
You had a remarkable ability to solve problems—often in a slightly manic but always effective way—before they even had a chance to become issues. You were the heart and soul of a very large multinational team, commanding respect from all, which is no small feat.
You were also a great friend over the years, always finding humour and managing to make me laugh even on the toughest days. There will forever be a Damo‑sized hole in our team, but it’s clear that your impact on your colleagues, friends, and family will remain a lasting legacy.

He was such good company and I really enjoyed collaborating with him both socially and professionally.

There were lovely tributes paid to him from very good friend, his boss and the very personal tribute that was given on behalf of Jane was extraordinary. It gave us a great insight into Damian as a kind fun loving Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Friend and work Colleague. The picture slides at the end were lovely and it was good to see Damian’s late Mother Carol in so many of them. I, like so many of my colleagues here in the US who had the pleasure of working with you at DSM, were saddened to hear of your passing. We were fortunate to have been able to get to know and work with you over the years. I will remember you as a person who always had a smile on his face, laughed often and always had something good to say. I can still recall how excited and enthusiastic you get when we chatted, especially when it came to your family and your father. Your professionalism and commitment to those who worked with you were exceptional. You were a person we could always depend on for sound solid guidance, and you made the time for so many of us who traveled to AU better.
