David R Murray – whose passions said everything about him — Collingwood through thick and thin, the ‘occasional’ flutter on the races and plenty of rounds of golf in between.
Always a quiet achiever, volunteering at the Sydney Olympics, head honcho of the WorkSafe Social Club, Tarot card reader, property and farming tycoon in South East Asia and much, much more.
More than the teams he followed or the games he played, it was the way he showed up for people that really defined Dave as a person. A wonderfully generous heart and a giving nature. If you needed a hand, Dave was there. If you needed a laugh, Dave had one of his trademark sayings at the ready, and if you needed a mate, Dave was always in your corner.
Dave lived his life the same way he followed his teams and dreams: loyal, passionate, sometimes quirky but always, all in. Those of us lucky enough to call him a friend are better for it.
Dave you are deeply missed by many but will never, ever be forgotten.

I consider myself truly fortunate to have had David as my very first work colleague on the IT Help Desk at WorkSafe. From day one, he made time to help me find my feet — patiently walking me through the technology we supported, as well as the policies and procedures that came with the role.
Whether it was at work or the occasional catch-up after hours, Dave was always great company and there was never a shortage of laughs when he was around.
He also had a filing system entirely his own — a organised chaos that made perfect sense to him alone. I never could locate what I was looking for on his desk, yet Dave would reach straight for the right document without a moment’s hesitation.
Among my fondest memories is the two of us watching Collingwood snatch a hard-fought victory over Hawthorn in the 2011 Preliminary Final at the MCG — adding our voices to that roar around the ground when the final siren sounded is something I’ll never forget.
I will always remember David as a true gentleman, a kind soul and a genuinely good-hearted bloke.
