Our beautiful Auntie Nellie, you have always been a part of my life. I cannot remember a time that you werent. You were my beautiful mums best mate through thick and thin. Your heart was made of gold and you had the soul of an angel.
No doubt you have reunited with Ali and Val and the Rat Pack is back together again reeking havoc up in heaven. If I listen hard enough I am sure I will here you all cackling over something.

I truly cannot believe you have gone, you were a battler, one of the strongest woman I have ever had the pleasure of having in my life. I know its not possible, but I did think you would live forever.

Our dear Auntie Nellie, we will miss you so much, you were a cheeky brat of a kid according to mum and you had the most amazing zest for life. You would light up any room you entered with your lovely smile and infectious laugh and an amazing spirit that helped you deal with some very tough times in your life. Reunited with your 4 brothers and 2 sisters and we will remember what your dad, our pa always said, don’t forget to be kind to each other and family is the most important thing. Sending love to Uncle Ivor, Rus, Vicki and all their families.

      Dear Ivor, Russell and Vicki
Our love and prayers for you as you farewell dear Aunty Nellie today. May God bless you as you learn to live without her exuberance and drive to enjoy life.
I have very fond memories of holidays with Ivor and Nellie in Geelong and later in Melbourne and lots of family reunions at the Harry Gillard home and later at Graham’s and Jamie’s always with Aunty Nellie and Ivor present and enquiring about our life and family.
We have been blessed to have a very big, caring family and Aunty Nell as a very big part of it.
Love from Lyndel, Maurice and Amy

To our Loved Family members, and to Ivor and Vicki and Russell and children, we express our eternal gratitude to dear Aunty Nell, for her courage, humour, great values and family devotion and pride as a beacon to us all to remember and emulate. She brings such a SMILE to my mind….LAUGHTER and kindness in all she pursued. So sad that our last forebears should have to leave us without the joy of our family reunion to communicate our personal remembrances…. With our affection and we are looking forward to the relief from this travel restraint so we can get back home to Australia. Each visit it was a joy to see Nell and Ivor and we always had memories of her kindness and devotion. Such a FUN person and inspiration, often in the face of adversity, always to have optimism and a devotion to your values of humanity!!!

So sad to say goodbye to you Aunty Nellie. We will miss your beautiful self, your gentle yet mischievous way, your hilarious cackle, the wonderful duo that you and Uncle Ivor always were. Up in Qld three years ago I had the most wonderful and interesting conversation with you about some aspects of your life and your relationship with our Pa and your brother Harry. I really loved that conversation and will cherish it forever. Because of your closeness to Harry, growing up I always felt like you were one of our grandmothers too, even though you were always so youthful, fit and dressed very trendy. I’m so sorry that you became so unwell and that we didn’t get to say a final goodbye to you. Luv ya Aunty Nellie and rest easy now. I really hope that you’re up there together with Dora, Alfred, Walter, Jim, Harry, Rene, Vic and Pat. Sending all our love to Uncle Ivor, Vicki, Rus, Tiffany, Belinda, Brad, Jordan, Morgan and Michael. With love from Lisa, Norm, Ben, Hannah and Jackson. Xxx

I will never forget the fir, at a Coles function on Princes Hwy Clayton. When I think of this night, it always brings a smile to my face and a warmth to my heart. This would be the start of a wonderful friendship, You and me, Ivor and Don and our families.
You had a wonderful outlook on life and a fun loving laugh. There will always be wonderful memories about family times spent together. Many times at Phillip Island (and enough Hot Cross buns to last a lifetime), travelling by caravan in Australia, trips to Singapore and Hong Kong, etc and all the wonderful get-togethers over the years. It has been tough over the past 6 months, with the coronavirus, not to be able to catch up with you and Ivor but you have always been in my thoughts and in my heart.
Thinking of you at this extremely sad time Ivor, Russell, Vicki and families, may you draw strength from each other.
My dear friend, Nellie, you will be sadly missed. Rest In Peace. Until we meet again.
Love Val, Mel and family. Xx

    To Auntie Nell’s loved ones:
I first met Nellie Burrell in 1996 when I worked for the dermatologist she was seeing in Boronia. I always found her to be interested in life and her surroundings. She was a real character. Many years later when my son Andrew met Laura, who should I meet again, Laura’s Auntie Nell!! What a small world. So though I’m not family I’ve always taken an interest in Auntie Nell and her life. She was a beautiful, kind, sincere and resilient lady who will be very sadly missed. It’s the end of an era – so hold on to your precious memories. Best wishes to all her family and friends. Vale Auntie Nell 💗

    Dear Nellie.

Very very sadly, the last of the Alf & Dora’s tribe has passed. Nellie you were such a beautiful loving, friendly, caring person, always cheerful and keen to know how people were getting on. A devoted Mum, you always demonstrated a great deal of patience and consideration to all you came in contact with. You’re famous also for your great sense of humour that could erupt without warning with that infectious cackling laugh – we really should have had it recorded for posterity. So glad I have the fond memories of when you lived with us at Poet Road back in the 50’s – you certainly brightened up an otherwise dull household at the time! . Now re-united with beloved parents and siblings.

We do regret the death of our Aunty and Great Aunty Nellie at such a turbulent and uncertain Covid time and following the recent death of Aunty Rene in similar confinement and also unable to have family visitors during illness, this year’s events have really knocked me and my family members for six.

Much love and sincere condolences to Dear Ivor, Russell, Vicki and their extended family during this difficult time. Earnestly hope this plague abates very soon so we can gather together to remember and celebrate the lives, achievements and legacies of the Dear Departed.

    Your loving nephew

To our beautiful Aunty Nellie ❤️
I always loved listening to you talk & tell us stories of your life & adventures. We always looked forward to seeing you & spending time with you & Uncle Ivor, as you brought so much fun & laughter to every occasion. These times will be very sadly missed & forever cherished.
It is hard to think that so close together we have lost both you & Aunty Rene. Though both now reunited & together again with loving departed families ❤️❤️
The wonderful family, your mum & dad (my great grandparents) Alf & Dora created, has left us fortunately with the best of values & true richness & appreciation of family. Which I hope continues through the next generations of our families & the memories of you all will live on forever, with the same affection you have installed in us.
Sincere condolences to Uncle Ivor, Rus, Vicki, your Grand & GG children. Our love & thoughts are with them all & we will always be there for them & our dear Uncle Ivor.
We love you Aunt Nellie & thank you for being you & a big part of our lives ❤️
May you be pain free. RIP beautiful lady 💕🙏❤️🌼🌹 🌈🌺
Lots of love, Deb, Rob & Liv 😘😘😘

    To our dearest Auntie Nellie,
It is with very heavy hearts, that we say goodbye to you. We feel so very blessed to have had you in our lives.
I want to thank you for looking after me when I was little (and protecting me from my boisterous brothers), and also giving me the honour of being your flower girl at your wonderful wedding. Mostly, thank you for being such a beautiful soul and being a great example for all of us who had the privilege to know you.
Your love for life and care for so many made you our real life Florence Nightingale. We will truely miss you. So rest now, and we live in hope that we will one day meet again.
Lots of love to Uncle Ivor, Russell, Vicki and families, from Bev, Salvatore, Laura, Andrew, Jayden, Jemma and Roberto. Xoxoxox 💗💐 🙏🏻 🌈 👼🏻
