Met on board the S.S.Himalaya bound from England to Australia, Christmas 1966, a laughing cavalier, ever chivalrous and generous for over half a century. Now on a final voyage. Farewell, Ainsley. Happy Landings!
    Love, always,
    Elinor

Our beloved neighbour Ainsley, always pops by with chocolate for my kids & food packets when we return from a trip. Cakes, Whisky and even Jansz wine, he was generous & gentlemanly. We will miss him more than you know for his good company, wonderful stories of friends & his cheeky wit. Rest well Ainsley, I hope there are plenty of bananas where you are.. they’re your favourite. It was an honour to know you sir. Lots of love, the Gill Family.

    My Godfather and Uncle.
Uncle was a true gentleman and an inspiring man, he taught me so much about life, we experienced amazing food, wine and the first time I ever tried an anchovy stuffed olive when I was 14! However, he would always show us the funny side of situations and to laugh, always laugh and try to see the best in even the most worrying or sad situations. I have learnt so much from you Uncle, including enjoying a nice chilled glass of ‘Jansz’ wine.

Therefore, I am very grateful and very lucky that I got to experience the legend that is Uncle Ainsley. I am happy that he is now with Aunty Bella. No doubt Aunty B is telling him off about something! Their love and life together was the happiest and I hope to achieve the same in my life. I am lucky to live with such great memories of all the wonderful experiences I had with Aunty Bella and Uncle Ainsley. Take care Uncle, I know you are looking down and smiling; salute to you Dearest Uncle x
