As Veron’s friends, we have been welcomed by Joe into their home with a big smile and quiet ways.
His warmth resonated beyond words. We recall him regaling a group sleepover with his legendary breakfast menu.
His help and advice were given without reservation, even in quirky matters. That underpined how incisive yet understated he was, a huge presence who will be greatly missed. His strength and memory will live on through Veron and family.

I fondly remember the terrarium by the home bar, double sided fish tank and the ceiling hung chairs at the back verandah at the old house.

Uncle Joe, to be honest there were many times that I didn’t understand a single word you said to me because of your accent, but I always noticed your smile & felt the kindness in your voice. As a child, I always felt safe in your presence, you were like a second dad to us. We will miss you dearly.
    – Love Mark

Uncle Joe, you will be missed immensely and your presence is still felt through the memories I have of you. From your huge hugs, Jokes I didn’t get, Explanations of how to work a new phone and not to forget my first ever alcoholic beverage, that shocking stuff that tasted like rocket fuel. Yes we always had a laugh about something. 34 years of memories come flooding back and I’m grateful and thankful to have had you in my life. We are family. May you Rest In Peace and continue fighting all those “conspiracy theories”.
    – Love Shirley

    Dear Veron and family,

My deepest condolences on Joe’s passing. I remember Joe from when uncle fist met him in Singapore all those years ago. Even though in recent times I only managed to meet up with Joe whenever I visited Melbourne, I will always remember him for his immense kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity of spirit. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you navigate through this difficult period of loss.

Dear Aunty Veron, Claire & Renee,

In such a time, we wish there’s something we can do to make your loss a little easier to bear, but we know that will not be possible. Yet, in our sadness, we can take comfort that Uncle Joe had lived a full and colourful life, more so than many of us.

We will always remember Uncle Joe for his quirky sense of humour, his generosity, his honesty, his sumptuous breakfasts, and not to mention his invitations to a drink or two at any time of the day… His presence will be sorely missed by so many of us.

Thank you, Uncle Joe, for being a part of our journey. Our boys will remember their grand-Uncle Joe fondly.

With love, Jonathan, Jacqualine, Javier & Joshua

Uncle Joe – there are so many memories that come to our minds, memories that now make us laugh, memories that will forever be treasured. We remember the times where you talked so fast, sometimes we just could not understand.. but we pretended we could. We remember whenever we came over, you would always give us a drink, regardless of time, shrug & say alcohol is fine. We remember all your crazy stories you told us as kids, & us thinking whether they were really true.. and we remember you together with all the dads, out late in the backyard, drinking & laughing so loudly that we often had to go out & tell everyone to keep their voices down. But what we remember most of all, is that you always helped our family out, whenever we needed it, and for that, we’ll forever be grateful. Our memories of you as our uncle were always happy ones. You will be so missed.

    – Love, Michelle, Elisa and Ben

    Dear Veronica

Raymond and I are deeply saddened and shock to hear Joe’s passing news.

We can still remember the very first time we met both of you in our Mt. Waverley restaurant in around 1986, and the invite to your home and become friends and stay in touch till now.

This kind of generous spirit and welcoming attitude is very special in this world. Joe is a very kind and warm person, speaks always with a sense of humour and smile. We will miss him and cherish all these unforgettable memories.

Please accept our heartfelt condolence to you and your family. Will pray for peace and comfort to all of you in this difficult times.

Thank you Joe and Veronica for this special friendship.

    Joe, Rest in Peace.

    Love
