A Tribute to My Dear Friend Kerry,
From the moment we met as teenagers, it was clear that Kerry’s friendship was a special kind of light. She had that wonderfully quirky sense of humour—the kind that would catch you off guard and leave you laughing long after the moment had passed. Even as life carried us in different directions, raising our families and navigating all the twists and turns that came our way, we always had this effortless way of reconnecting. No matter how much time had passed, we’d pick up right where we left off, sharing stories, laughing, and reminiscing about our young days as if no time had gone by at all.
Kerry was fiercely devoted to her family. She loved them with a quiet strength that you could feel in everything she did. And beneath that strength, she carried a heart that had weathered its share of challenges. She often kept her emotions tucked safely behind a kind of armour—her shield against the difficulties and heartaches life delivered. But every now and then, that shield would crack, and she would let me see her vulnerability. Those moments—raw, honest, and full of trust—were some of the greatest privileges of our friendship.
In those early days, we held each other’s hands through heartbreak, through confusion, through the painful and the beautiful chapters of growing up. I will always be grateful to Kerry for the greatest gift she inadvertently gave me: I met my husband through her. It’s a blessing I can never thank her enough for.
Now her battle is over, and though my heart aches with the loss, I take comfort in knowing she is finally at peace. Rest gently, my beautiful friend, until we meet again. Thank you for the laughter, the memories, the love, and the years of friendship that shaped my life in ways you may never have fully known.
You will always be with me, Kerry—today and forever.
